A loss of hair, known medically as alopecia. It is {hereditary} & not caused by wearing hats or too frequent hair washing or brushing. Male baldness progresses with age & cannot be reversed or prevented.
Hair thinning may follow 2/3 months after severe illness. Some drugs (especially anti-cancer) & certain diseases, cause temporary loss of hair. Wigs & toupees can be used. Hair transplants are sometimes successful as a permanent method of replacing lost hair. Certain drugs may cause hair regrowth in some cases.
